In a landmark initiative, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team at Ankura Hospital, Bhubaneswar, led by Dr. Subhranshu and Dr. Priyabrata, successfully organized the first-ever Pediatric Point of Care Ultrasonography (POCUS) workshop in Odisha. This pioneering event marked a significant milestone in advancing pediatric critical care practices within the state.
The workshop drew participation from around 60 delegates, including young pediatricians and budding intensivists from various parts of Odisha. The overwhelming response highlighted the growing interest and demand for hands-on, skill-based training in pediatric critical care.
The comprehensive workshop was expertly led by seasoned intensivists and enriched by the presence of nationally renowned faculties—Prof. Dr. Dhiren Gupta, Deputy Director of PICU at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, and Prof. Dr. Sibabrata Pattnaik, Head of Department at AIIMS, Hyderabad. Their insightful sessions and practical demonstrations provided invaluable learning experiences for all attendees.
The day-long workshop featured interactive lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions focused on the use of ultrasonography at the bedside in critically ill pediatric patients. Topics included lung ultrasound, cardiac imaging, vascular access guidance, and fluid assessment techniques, all tailored specifically for pediatric care.
This initiative by Ankura Hospital underscores its commitment to clinical excellence, continued medical education, and capacity-building in pediatric critical care across the region. The success of this event sets the stage for more such educational endeavors in the future, aiming to elevate the standard of care for children in Odisha and beyond.
